They will be visiting this fall season while the zoo\u00b4s horses take a vacation, grazing in pasture. They receive a similar amount of vacation time as the zoos staff are given during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors first days at the zoo were spent inspecting the cloven-hoofed inhabitants (especially the cattle). As they are not accustomed to seeing cattle up-close, though they are worldly, fully grown mares.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting fact is the name Kengala comes from the Icelandic Grettir\u00b4s Saga. Asmundur Grettir\u00b4s father had a mare bearing that name and she was especially weather-wise and resisted taking part in foolish expeditions. Freyja on the other hand, is the name of a goddess in Norse mythology associated with love and fertility.
