The Reykjavik Park and Zoo will transform into the Multicultural Park next Saturday, the 13th of May when Multicultural Day will be celebrated. There will be free admission to the park for everyone that day and we encourage all to visit. Cultural diversity will be celebrated with a varied program and miscellaneous events. Many people have been working hard on this celebration, especially so-called ambassadors from the Breiðholt district in Reykjavik that are organizing this event.
The ambassadors are working on a wide range of tasks all around the city and it is a grassroot project that started two years ago. The project facilitates connections between various causes and cultural groups within society. In the beginning, the ambassadors were seven from as many causes and cultural groups, but today there are 21 ambassadors from 14 causes and cultural groups. They play an important role in conveying information regarding the services the city of Reykjavik provides to its societal groups. More information about this exciting day can be found here.
