Dog days continue on Wednesdays

We will continue to allow responsible dog owners and their dogs to visit the Reykjavik Park and Zoo on Wednesdays. All dogs must be well behaved and registered in the owner’s municipality. The dogs must also have the tag of their municipality on their collar. They must be healthy, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on a short leash and under the control of an adult as well. We ask the people accompanying dogs to please remove them from situations that may be stressful for other people, dogs or animals. The animals that live at the zoo are not all excited to meet dogs. Visiting dogs are not allowed inside the animal houses, although most animals at the zoo are outdoors during the summer months.

It´s easy to register your dog in Reykjavik, and all registration is electronic and can be done on the website www.island.is. The staff at the Reykjavik Animal Services encourage all dog owners to register their animals. If a dog is registered in Reykjavik, but the Reykjavik tag is lost, it is simple to have a new one made. In those cases, owners can send an email to dyr@reykjavik.is
