Summer courses (2025) for 10-12 year old children

Summer courses for 10- to 12-year-old children (born 2013 – 2015) will be offered next summer (2025). In this course students will be able to work with the animals at the zoo, which is ideal for children who are interested in animals. The children will take part in animal care and husbandry. Students will also be introduced to exotic animals that are not indigenous to Iceland. In addition, fun games will be played.

Each day children will be given an exciting opportunity to go into an animal’s enclosure and meet them at close range. The course is five weekdays (four days when there are national holidays), it begins at 9:00 am and ends at 12:00 pm. After the course, the students are welcome to stay at the park until closing time, at 06:00 pm and ride the attractions or visit the animals. The number of students each week will be 12.

Registration for the course will take place online at www.sumar.fristund.is. To register participants, parents, or guardians (the person registering) must have their electronic ID´s ready as well as both the child’s personal identification number (kennitala) and their own kennitala.
