A buck was born in the goat house

Pens were set up yesterday (17. April) in the indoor goat enclosure and last night the first kid of the spring was born. The mother is called Rák (meaning stripe in Icelandic).
Summer courses for 10 to 12 year old children 2023

Summer courses for 10- to 12-year-old children (born 2011 – 2013) will be held next summer (2023). In this course students will be able to work with the animals at the zoo, which is ideal for children who are interested in animals.
The reindeer are shedding their antlers

The reindeer cow Hallveig has shed both her antlers and currently the cow Regina has lost one of hers.
Hot dogs with all traditional toppings, some, or none

This spring and summer refreshments at the Park will be offered by the company “Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur”, “the best hot dog in town” in English.
Educational talks, instead of guided tours

As in the past few years, the staff in the education department at the Zoo will take a break from traditional guided tours from May 8th, until the end of the school year. Instead, there will be two educational talks every weekday before noon during this period.
Eyja gave birth to a bull calf

The heifer Eyja gave birth to her first calf, a healthy bull called “Askur”. The name means ash (tree), which is fitting as he was born the night before Ash Wednesday.
