Dog owners can bring their dog for a visit on Wednesdays as long as it is well behaved and registered with the municipality. The dogs must wear the municipality’s badge on a collar, be healthy, fully vaccinated, dewormed, on a short leash and accommpanied by an adult. Dogowners are asked to remove dogs from situations that are stressful for people, dogs or other animals. The animals in the park are not all fond of dogs, so visiting dogs are not allowed indoors and not along the fox fence.
Registering your dog in Reykjavík is easy, as all registration is done electronically at www.island.is, and Reykjavík Animal Services encourages everyone who have unregistered dogs to do so. If a dog is registered in Reykjavík but the tag to be placed on the collar is lost, it is no problem to make a new one. In those cases, dog owners can send an email to dyr@reykjavik.is.
