When startled minks can release a smelly scent from a gland by their anus, similar to skunks.

Minks

Minks were brought to Iceland in 1931 with the aim to breed them for fur. One year later they had escaped and it only took two years for minks to spread all over the country. Now they live wild in Iceland. Minks usually live near rivers or lakes, as they mainly eat fish in nature. Minks are very good swimmers and they have webbed feet. They can stay underwater for 1 minute at a time. They are also loners by nature and only want the company of other minks during the mating season.
