The company Faxaflóahafnir and the Reykjavik Park and Zoo have decided to continue in collaboration on the project “Sjóferð um Sundin” or Sea Voyages on the Straits. Where elementary school children in the municipality of the company are invited to sail on the strait Faxaflói under the guidance of staff of the Reykjavik Park and Zoo. This adventure has been offered to students for around twenty years and has given students in the municipalities of Reykjavik, Akranes, Hvalfjarðasveit and Borgarnes the opportunity to learn about biodiversity in Faxaflói and the port operations of Faxaflóahafnir. The voyages are scheduled in springtime, although they have concluded this year. The next voyages are on schedule for the spring of 2024.
